Assignment Directions: In 400-500 words per answer, respond to the following three questions, using evidence from the documentary film to support your answers. Take notes below on this sheet as you watch the film, and then type up your final answers and submit via Blackboard.
1. Is solitary confinement effective for rehabilitation of prisoners, or for incapacitation of threats? Why or why not?
2. Based on what you have seen in the film, do you believe solitary confinement should be considered a cruel and unusual punishment under the Eighth Amendment? Why or why not?
3. What alternatives—if any—to solitary confinement would you recommend the criminal justice system implement? Justify your position.
You may help support your answers with reference to other reliable outside sources, but I’m primarily looking for answers based off the documentary. Cite your sources in APA format.
The more detailed, thoughtful, and well-written your answers, the more extra credit points you will earn towards your next exam. You may earn up to 15 extra credit points on your next exam (5 per question) depending on how strong your answers are.
If you earn more than a 100 on your next exam, any extra points you earned from this assignment will then be carried over and applied to your final exam.
Upload your paper to the Blackboard dropbox by the end of the day on Wednesday 11/14/18. Failure to complete the assignment will negatively impact your class participation grade with a loss of -10 points.
