  1. Think about a fictional character (in a book, movie, or TV show) who stayed in a romantic relationship, even though it was not a good relationship for them. Briefly explain the scenario and then use social exchange theory to analyze why that person might have stayed in the relationship.
  2. Describe a time that you disclosed private information with another person. Use Communication Privacy Management Theory to explain how you shared this information, how the boundaries were negotiated, and whether boundary turbulence occurred.
  3. Explain a situation in which you and a relationship partner (romantic partner or friend) experienced a dialectical tension in your relationship. What was the situation, and what characteristics made it that particular type of dialectical tension? What strategy did you use to manage that dialectical tension?
