Situation: Providing access to patient care is critical for all health care organizations. Telehealth and telemedicine are the future of health care as a means to deliver patient care at a distance or where there is little access to care. But is the process always the best means for providing care? If so, what are the limitations and barriers to the success? How can telehealth or telenursing be incorporated into everyday nursing practice?

Assignment Instructions:

The link for the video is here: SSS by Dr. Monica Miles (40 min) in preparation for your SSS Connection #3. Here is the Jurica Suchy Museum youtube channel link: https://youtu.be/FFkpuKCsrVI

Assignment Parts: Part 1: Presentation Details: Provide your name, the full name of the speaker, the title of the presentation that you viewed, and the SSS assignment number(Science speaker series 3) session 4.

Part 2: Course Connection (~200 words). Describe an ecological concept, principle, and/or theory that was discussed in the scientific presentation (SSS) you viewed. The description should be detailed enough for the instructor to know that you viewed (in it’s entirely) and understood the scientific presentation. Once you have described the ecological concept, etc., connect it to ecology course material. The connection could be to SimUText material , which is intrinsically connected to your Ecology Photos of plants, animals. The description and connection should include at least 3 bolded vocabulary terms that have been discussed in class. These vocabulary terms should be interwoven into your connection paragraph and you must demonstrate your understanding of the terms you are using (i.e. do not just list terms, but explain the why and how behind the connection). Finally, what are the broader ecological and societal implications outlined by the speaker in their presentation (they may not always clearly state the importance, but you should be able to identify it based on the presentation). Note: not all SSS are strictly ecologybased presentations, but all will connect to course material.

Part 3 Personal Connection (~200 words): Explain how this scientific presentation extends your personal knowledge and understanding of ecology. How was your perspective on a given issue, concept, idea broadened and/or changed? In this section, you may pull from your knowledge beyond our ecology classroom. Perhaps, for example, you view the SSS on diseases, and notice it connects to the immunology, biostatistics, and/or a GenEd course you took. In this section, you could explain how/why your understanding of disease was broadened, strengthened, or changed after viewing an SSS. Alternatively, perhaps you view the SSS on urban ecology, and reflect on your upbringing and how that shaped your relationship with nature. Or you explore how this new knowledge may influence or impact your future. So again, explain the why and how of your personal connection to SSS material. One connect on a personal level is to think about the importance that this presentation and its content has to your life (present and/or future). How does it make you see the world differently? What kinds of biological, ecological, and/or societal questions are you left with after this presentation? There are many different ways to approach this Part, but the important piece is digging deeper into your personal relationship with the SSS material presented. You can always run an idea by your instructor!

Bonus! 1-2 pts: write down one original, well-thought-out question you have for the science speaker about their presentation. To get full credit, the question must indicate that you watched the video. You will not get credit for asking “where did you get your degree?” and the like, which could be asked of any speaker without viewing the videos).

You will work on a research project for the duration of this course that you will deliver as a presentation. Here is a brief breakdown of the project so that you can plan your time in the course:WeekTaskWeek 3Topic SelectionWeek 5Annotated BibliographyWeek 6ScriptWeek 8PresentationInstructions
Now that you have selected a topic for your final presentation, this week you will need to construct your annotated bibliography using APA style. For this assignment, you need to select a minimum of 8 sources that you plan on using for your presentation and then construct the annotations for each source. The concept of constructing a bibliography is certainly not new for most students, but you may not be as comfortable adding annotations to the bibliography entries. After you select a source and reference it in APA format, construct the annotation for the source. The annotation is really just answering a few questions about the sources itself and once you answer these questions this part of the assignment almost creates itself. Answer the following 6 questions for each source:
  • Main purpose of the source
  • Intended audience for the source

Relevance to your topic (or explain why it was not relevant to your topic)

Competency

This competency will allow you to demonstrate your understanding of prominent sociological theories and how they impact the digital world.

Student Success Criteria

View the grading rubric for this deliverable by selecting the “This item is graded with a rubric” link, which is located in the Details & Information pane.

Instructions

You are working for a local department store in the Operations Department. You notice that their business practices and use of technology are not up to date. The Human Resources Department does not have adequate computer access and often requires employees to complete some business at home. They also require prospective employees to apply from home. You recognize that not all people have personal computers, and some might be accessing business and personal records from a public computer. There are two prominent sociological theories that can be used to easily examine computer usage for individuals and organizations. Those theories are Conflict Theory and Symbolic Interaction Theory.

At a staff meeting, you and your team are engaged in a discussion about the use of technology on both an individual and organizational level. You cite the digital divide as a major concern. Your store is considering an upgrade in some or all of their technological resources.

Recognizing that you are technologically savvy, your supervisor asks you to generate a visual comparison that considers the use of public computers versus a personal computer. You will rank concepts such as ease of use, time, and comfort in completing tasks, security factors, email management, and safety in conducting business that is typically completed on a computer that may lead someone to experience the digital divide (a difference between groups of people and their use of digital technology). You will also need to consider the sociological theories named above and explain how from a sociological perspective, it would benefit or hinder the store you work in to upgrade their technology.

Your comparison should consider various factors identified below and will illustrate the benefits and some potential limitations of utilizing technology. Your presentation will be presented to your supervisor and other members of the Operations Department in order to determine which, if any, components of the store’s current technological operations will be updated. The visual comparison can be in any engaging format that you select.

For this comparison chart, you are to reflect upon and address the following sets of questions/information.

  • Define conflict theory.
  • Define symbolic interaction theory.
  • Discuss how each of these theories would explain the use of technology and the development of the digital world we now live.
  • Consider multiple ways that society has changed in the past several decades and what contributed to that change.
  • Provide examples of technological growth and change over the past several decades.
  • Make direct correlations between the technologies that exist and the changes that have occurred at the organizational and societal levels in the past several decades.
  • Define digital divide.
  • Consider factors that create the digital divide, such as access to technology, socioeconomic status, age, personal interest, location of residence, etc.
  • Based upon factors that cause the digital divide, suggest ways that this divide can be combated.
  • How does the digital divide apply to the store that you work in for this scenario?
  • Which theoretical perspective can best be applied to your store in the above scenario to help explain and counter the impacts of the digital divide?

Write one suggestion to students who take the course next semester for how to best succeed in the course.

Write one suggestion to students who take the course next semester for how to best succeed in the course.

Make sure to watch all the videos and truly understand the datasets

Review the datasets until you understand them

don’t miss class! and participate!

I would advise the next students taking the course to think proactively to connect lecture material, datasets, and worksheet concepts.

Not to fall behind and manage time wisely

Watch the online lectures as soon as you can instead of waiting till the last minute.

stay on top of things

attend the review sessions

go over the datasets frequently throughout the semester to practice and to keep the information fresh in your brain

manage your time wisely

Really aim to understand the data sets!

Make sure to check deadlines!! Also, datasets are important and understand the quizzes to do well on exams.

Everything is provided for you to succeed. Watch the video lectures and take the corresponding quizzes , go to class, do the clicker questions, worksheets and paper packets when assigned. If confused, ASK the professor quickly so you do not get more confused. There is no busy work in this class, everything is given for a purpose- so do all of it. You will be just fine so long as you don’t try to take shortcuts.

To actually follow the deadlines and participate and ask as many questions as the need in class.

Watch all the lecture videos and take the quizzes for them until you understand them completely

rewatch the online videos until you understand

Attend the classes and rewatch class lectures and the online quiz videos and take good notes.

Take really good notes on data sets and practice observations and conclusions.

Do not fall behind or it will only be harder to do well

Know the online lecture material well and review the datasets thoroughly.

Always be on top of your material .

Pay attention during the dataset lectures and make sure you ask any questions you have or anything you’re confused about.

This class needs lots of studying

Listen to Dr. Wilsons videos and attend her class

be on top of dropbox due dates

don’t fall behind

Connect with your group. The book can be dense and the student data sets are confusing so to have people to lean on to gain a more solid understanding of concepts is important.

Watch online lectures and go over datasets multiple times before an exam

If you taking this class online, do not fall behind. I didnt really understand much until the day before the exam. So keeping up with the material is necessary. Also the questions on the exam cause you to think three-dimensionally meaning you need to understand surface level questions to do well.

Watch all the lectures before class, and understand the data sets.

Focus on dataset questions and keep them in one place.  Learn how to analyze figures (observations and conclusions).  Look at the pictures from lectures and read these same pictures in the book..

http://www.sharonlbegley.com/culture-the-dumbest-g… read this article then follow these instructions:

Each time you encounter a text on your own or for a class (we’ll use the word “text” to cover essays, films, books, articles, etc.), you should actively engage the content. That is, don’t passively experience a text. We will begin unraveling our assigned texts in these boards so that you can focus your approach to writing using the ideas they contain. That’s a pretty big deal, something I want you to understand:

  • you aren’t researching and writing your project about the texts I require you to read or that you find on your own during research; rather, you’re researching and writing using the ideas introduced by the texts.

Use the texts, then, as diving boards for your own thinking:

Here’s a series of questions I’ve been trained to ask about texts as a reader, and now I’m passing it along to you. I ask these questions all the time so that I can get a look at the bigger picture a text may be approaching, and I recommend that you do the same. It may be cumbersome at first, but if you stick with it, you’ll learn to do it on the fly. Be honest–you don’t have to convince me how much you like a particular text if you dislike it. The same goes for not understanding–it’s okay to not understand. It’s not okay, though, to say you don’t understand and then do nothing about it. If you think about it, one of the best things you can do as a reader is ask questions until you find yourself saying “I don’t know.” Once you find yourself at that point, you’ve found the edges of your knowledge and have thus discovered a beginning.

These questions can be the basis of our discussion boards all semester long, at least as starting points:

  • Initial reactions / Did you like it? Why / not? Be honest–some of the texts bore the life out of me, but it doesn’t mean that they don’t have worth.
  • Reactions upon further thinking?
  • What is the central claim that the writer is making (look for a thesis)? Is it explicitly stated? Where?
  • How does the writer support the claim?
  • How does this text connect to other texts we’ve encountered?
  • Who wrote it, when, and why does that matter?
  • Can I trust this source?
  • How does this text connect to reality / life?
  • Why am I being prompted to read / respond to this particular text?

For the moment, that’s enough. You don’t have to answer every single question every single time here in the boards, but use them to pique your interests. The last two bullets go a long, long way–we have to connect our texts to real life and ask ourselves why we’re doing what we are doing. We aren’t functioning in a vacuum!

In addition, you will be able to examine how an organization’s digital footprint impacts their overall success.

Student Success Criteria

View the grading rubric for this deliverable by selecting the “This item is graded with a rubric” link, which is located in the Details & Information pane.

Instructions

You are working for a local department store in the Operations Department. You notice that their business practices and use of technology are not up to date. One day while working, you are having a discussion about technology and identity formation with your supervisor. Your supervisor continues to explain that individuals and organizations have digital identities that are formed and impacted through various methods. Your supervisor continues, saying, “They can develop or change through social media, positive or negative press, word of mouth, and so on.”

You begin to understand that the digital footprint of a business or organization can greatly impact their success or failure due to many factors, including the rapid dissemination of information that can occur digitally.

Your supervisor, through the course of the discussion, acknowledges that you are very fluent in the area of digital identity and asks you to conduct research and create a visual presentation explaining how digital identity is formed for both individuals and organizations. Your supervisor says, “This visual presentation will be presented to not only me, but company stakeholders and your coworkers in order to help them understand how identity is formed, and how to best maximize digital identity to contribute to the overall success of our store.”

Your supervisor continues, saying, “From this presentation, decision makers will be able to work on identity management and can then implement digital strategies in order to maintain or improve the store’s identity. In the end, this is intended to help increase exposure to the store, enhance the customer base, and the overall success of the store. The visual representation should be interactive and informative and can be presented in any visual format that you choose.”

Analyze methods for understanding and mapping change in an organization.

Delta Pacific Case Study

You now have been tasked with mapping out an organizational culture change Delta Pacific Company (DPC), another role and responsibility as a change leader for the organization. It’s important to have a change plan set before the change actually occurs.

This is for a few reasons:

  • Increases the probability of success
  • Enables you to weigh options
  • Provides knowledge so you can make an informed decision
  • Allows for proper identification of the change and steps needed
  • Allows for identification of what might occur during the change

Since you are the change leader, your first step is to map the change using a change management model. You are aware of the extensive change the organization is undertaking with a shift in production to consulting. However, profitability has still declined even with training and resources in place.

I’m working on a nursing question and need support to help me learn.

Case Study 1

Judy is a full-time nursing student who also works two jobs and lives on her own. Because she has little free time, Judy has to block out time for studying rather than trying to study when she has the time. She likes to color-code her schedule so that she can prioritize her time. John is a full-time nursing student who does not work and lives with his parents. He describes having many hobbies and sports activities that take away from his studying time. He likes to attend study sessions that can last from 5 to 8 hours to get it done all at once. Sometimes he gets caught up in something else and forgets when his tests are scheduled. Both Judy and John describe having difficulty studying, finding time to study, and avoiding distractions from their course work.

A.Which side of the brain is dominant for Judy? For John? Explain your answers.

B.What suggestions would you give Judy and John to help them study better?

C.How could Judy and John create an effective study space?

D. Why is it important for Judy to identify work-family conflicts as a single parent and a nursing student at this time?

Case Study 2

Chris is a nursing student and a self-proclaimed procrastinator. She describes herself as waiting until the last minute to complete projects and study for exams. She is currently taking one online course and three courses in a classroom. Chris tells her academic advisor that she tried color-coding her files, making out schedules for studying, and blocking out time, but she was afraid she’d get caught up in the act of doing those tasks and then wouldn’t have time to study. She describes having difficulties finding time to complete her online course work and staying current with the discussions. Chris is already feeling the consequences of her actions, as reflected by her falling grades.

What strategies could Chris’s advisor explain to her that might help her overcome procrastination?

Chris explains to her advisor that although she procrastinates, she is also a perfectionist, always wanting to earn A’ on all her work. What guidance should her advisor give her?

Chris’s advisor tells her to try positive affirmations to boost her self-esteem. What is a positive affirmation, and how would it help Chris in this situation?

Chris explains how the online course is a lot harder than what she expected and she is having trouble keeping up with the class. She tells her advisor that she often forgets about the assignments because the course is more self-directed than her other classes. How should her advisor help her?

In discussing this project with your boss, it is clear that digital growth can refer not only to Internet and computers, but it can also refer to other aspects of business operations such as cash registers, phone services, advertisements, various tools for communication, etc. Your supervisor asks that this timeline be created to help you, your supervisor, and other stakeholders determine the advantages and disadvantages of a proposed upgrade in technology in the workplace with the overall goal of understanding what systems can be put into place or maintained that can help the store run as efficiently as possible. • Textbook: Chapter 11, 12
  • Lesson
  • Minimum of 2 scholarly sources in addition to the textbook.

Instructions

This assignment is comprised of 2 parts, the first of which is due this week. Part II will be due in Week 7.

In Part I this week, choose a case from your state that involves civil rights or civil liberties that wound its way up to the United States Supreme Court. If your state does not have a case that ended up in the United States Supreme Court, choose a civil rights case from another state that ended up in the Supreme Court of the United States.

Here is a brief description of civil rights and civil liberties: Civil rights refers to equal social opportunities under the law. It gives you these freedoms such as the right to vote, the right to public education, or a fair trial, among other things, regardless of your wealth or race. Civil liberties mean freedom of religion, equal treatment and due process under the law, and the right to privacy.

You should be able to go online and look up your state and famous cases that ended up in the Supreme Court. For example, Brown v Board of Education (1951) started in Topeka, Kansas and ended up in the Supreme Court of the United States. Another example would be Calvary Chapel Dayton Valley v Steve Sisolak, Governor of Nevada (2020) that started in Nevada and ended up the United States Supreme Court.

Research your court case and write an outline of the case that you will be using to prepare a presentation, which will either be a narrated PowerPoint, a Kaltura Video, or some other format as approved by your instructor. Be sure to verify the presentation format with your instructor before starting work on this assignment.

This week’s assignment should include (a) summary of the case, and (b) a case outline

A. Summary of the Case

In one or two paragraphs, provide a general overview of the case that serves as a snapshot of what the case is about and how it ended up in your state high court. A summary is using your words to write a brief history of the case. Do not give your opinion or your interpretation but stick to the facts only.

B: Case Outline

Your court case outline should include:

  1. Title: Name of the case
  2. Facts of the case: Provide key facts involving the case.
  3. History of the case: What legal action was taken based on what your state laws say about this case?
  4. Legal questions: What were the legal issues the court had to decide?
  5. Decision or holdings: Did the court decide for the plaintiff or the defendant? Explain the reason behind the decision?
  6. Verdict and opinion (judgement): What were the concurring and dissenting opinions? How many judges decided for the defendant and how many justices decided against the defendant? What was the final verdict from the judge or the jury, if it was a jury trial?

Summary: What was the resulting impact of the ruling? How did the citizens of your state benefit from it? Make sure to not give our opinion but stick to the facts only. This summary just gives a brief rundown of the case and conclusion only, just the

Writing Requirements (APA format)

  • The length of your outline will vary. Usually an outline is anywhere from 1-3 pages long. Make sure to write full sentences to explain your case. It is a concise list to be used as a reference for you during the presentation.Using the outline, you will be describing the court case in your presentation and the scenario around the court case.

As the Human Resource Consultant, the CEO is looking to you to creatively solve a complicated problem with employment and labor law by determining the best method(s) based on the current situation and being legally compliant. After all, there are so many laws to consider. You are tasked with answering the following questions about being compliant:

  • As a small business, they are required to offer FMLA? In the past employees have requested FMLA but were denied, citing that the business was a small business. What’s the impact?
  • In the warehouse, employees do not wear the company-issued back belts and safety glasses, which has been allowed based on the fact that it is the employees that have been refusing to wear the items. Are they legally allowed to refuse?
  • Is the company legally required to offer health insurance (and how much), can employees work more than 60 hours per week (paid), and does the company have to offer accommodations for employees with disabilities?
For this project assignment, you will need to conduct research.
  • Visit the Rasmussen online Library and search for a minimum of four articles covering the topics of FMLA and workplace safety. Conduct academic research using the library’s databases, like:
  • Discovery
  • ASP: Human Resource Management Online
  • Business Source Complete via EBSCO
  • Business via ProQuest
  • In the databases use basic search languages (controlled vocabulary/keywords) to determine employment and labor laws specific to this situation. Then, refine your searches based on your search results. Make sure to include a minimum of 4 credible, academic sources in your paper.
  • Also, conduct your research using credible websites; for example, you will likely want to use the OSHA website and government websites related to FMLA (government websites will end in .gov).
Using your research, address the following points in your paper.
  • Was the company legally compliant with FMLA? Explain and support with law. How can leadership make decisions that are objective and reflect the ethical treatment of others? Demonstrate how leadership can comply with laws and rules governing FMLA to employees in an ethical and professional manner.
  • Explain who’s at risk for legal compliance when workplace safety is not mandated or monitored? What are the ethical and professional implications?
  • Evaluate the impact of laws on the core beliefs or personal ethics from a perspective of the employees. What is the potential impact of ethical issues on the stakeholders of the company?

HISCO Summary Annual Report

[WLOs: 2, 3] [CLOs: 1, 3, 4]

Prior to gaining access to the Summary Annual Report through the Growing Your Business simulation, all previously assigned simulation work must be completed. After all previously assigned simulation work has been completed, the Summary Annual Report Templatewill be accessible through the Annual Report tab.

The summary annual report is a scaled down version of a full annual report. You will simply not have enough detail to complete the typical nine sections. For example, you are not responsible for the Auditor’s Report. Naturally, you are encouraged to review real world annual reports which can be used as a strawman in preparation. Your recently completed Annual Operating Review in Week 5 should be aligned with your Annual Report.

Preparing your HISCO summary annual report will be one of the most comprehensive assignments you will have completed during your MBA. You will gain an appreciation for the complexity and responsibility the senior executives continually face. Hopefully, you have experienced the holistic and competitive environment from the simulation. Your recently completed Annual Operating Review will provide the basics.

The information, qualitative and quantitative, in an annual report should provide current and prospective investors (as well as any stakeholder) a complete insight into the company’s historic performance and its plans for growth and improvement over the next few years as defined by its strategy. Publicly traded companies are required by law to prepare and submit to many constituencies a variety of filings. The most well-known is the Annual Report to Shareholders and related Form 10-K. An annual report is technically an unofficial document. The Form 10-K will typically provide the most comprehensive summary of the company’s history, financials, risks and opportunities, and current operations. The Form 10-K is submitted annually to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Technically, HISCO is a private company (you may have sold equity to the venture capitalist) and only if it had publicly trades debt would be required to file a Form 10K.

As a future leader of a public or private company, you will learn the integrative nature of any business while you complete the HISCO summary annual report. This document can become an important part of your e-portfolio in the program. Your owner, Stanley Sloane, looks forward to reading your HISCO summary annual report. While details may vary state by state, even if your career leads to growing a small private business, you will need to file an annual report with The Secretary of State in your jurisdiction, another benefit to learning from our final activity.

The following identifies specifics instructions for preparation of each required section. The required sections to be completed will be found the word document from the model. Please remember to periodically save your work. An online search will reveal innumerable sites devoted to annual reports.

The HISCO Summary Annual Report

  • Must be completed using the template provided through the Growing Your Businesssimulation.
  • For technical help with the simulation, please email HelpDesk@tri-sim.com
  • Follow the Summary Annual Report Templateas a guide to formatting your work. Standard APA formatting will not apply to this assignment.
  • Must include the following:

      • You can design your own cover page. Should be reflective of your corporate image and may include a picture and/or logo. At a minimum, it will include the name, [simulation year] HISCO Summary Annual Report, as well as your name and date. The cover page can only be 1 page.
    • CEO Letter
      • The CEO Letter is designed to share the Strategy, Financial Highlight Summary, and Business Overview of the past year. • The “Stan Sloane Letter”
      • HISCO’s owner, Stan Sloane, is very happy that he decided to hire you to help turn the company around. He is interested in having you stay on with the company. However, he will need assurance from you that you are committed to continuing to grow HISCO. Explain to Stan how you plan on running the company over the next two years. You should discuss the majority of the items you developed when you first came on with the company, including: whether you would make any changes to the SWOT analysis, whether you would change the company strategy, negotiations you would make with company stakeholders, future technology suggestions, growth expectations in general for the industry and specifically for HISCO over the next two years, any concerns that occurred in the past year that you would address, and any other information you believe would be relevant in order to reassure Stan that he has placed the company in the right hands. You will add this letter at the end of the standard Annual Report. This letter is not part of a traditional Annual Report. The “Stan Sloane Letter” can be 3-4 pages.
    • Sales, Marketing, & Industry
      • This section should detail all aspects of HISCO’s Value Chain, from supplier to manufacturing to the customer. Products, NPIs, Pricing, in an industry perspective of competition should be elaborated on. Utilize tools from marketing to manage the profitability of overall business operations. A review of your SWOT would probably help as well as your recently completed Annual Operating Review. An essential element is for current and prospective investors to understand how HISCO makes money and will be able to create growth and deal with risks. The Sales, Marketing & Industry section can be a maximum of 5 pages.
    • Financial Statements
      • Financial statements are the heart and soul of the annual report. This is a quantitative section that provides current and prospective investors a look into HISCOs financial performance. The financial statements consist of the Income Statement, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow. We suggest you show a minimum of 4 Qtrs. for each of the past two years for the Income Statement, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow. Utilize tools from finance management to manage the profitability of overall business operations. Consider expanding the lines within each statement in the model. You will need to provide details on the Credit Line. The Financial Statements section can be a maximum of 6 pages.
    • Management Discussion and Analysis (MD&A)
      • The Management Discussion and Analysis section provides the real detail on year to year performance. In your case, this will be simulation year vs. prior simulation year. Topics will be both qualitative and quantitative in all aspects of simulation year relative to prior simulation year. MD&A will certainly include a complete variance analysis of performance and the successes and failures of your decisions for the year. It is the time you will delve into the details of your operating decisions. The MD&A section is typically devoted to the past (your future was described in prior sections). Reference to the Financial Statements is crucial as well as your recently completed Annual Operating Review. Graphics from your Business Intelligence Dashboard and your Variance walks on Income and Cash can provide visual insight into your performance. The Management Discussion and Analysis (MD&A) can be a maximum of 6 pages.
    • Notes, Appendices, and References
      • Any supporting documents, comments, information, a glossary of terminology, and/or clarifications you deem relevant to your annual report to assist current and prospective investors. The Notes, Appendices, and References are required and can be a minimum of 1 page and a maximum of 2 pages. References can be in a bulleted or numbered format.

I’m working on a business exercise and need an explanation to help me learn.

 Questions:

1) What are the potential problems that face the new venture?

2) What are the potential advantages of this venture for the company?

3) Would you recommend entering the joint venture? Why or why not?

4) If Greenwich Industries partners with Industro Viejes, would you recommend hiring local managers or American managers for the top and middle management positions? Why?

5) I need to comment the response, and also agree or disagree with it.

I would say that the first thing that Greenwich Industries should do is get an idea of the current political popularity from the Santo Ignezeto people. Just because the current government has held power for 10 years doesn’t mean it will continue. With the government offering incentive packages to foreign companies, that will bring in competition for recourses. Their previous holding in that area could cause inaccurate goals as well. If Greenwich goes into the deal with the expectation that they will be successful because of their previous success, they may not consider all the aspects of the joint venture properly.

Greenwich Industries entered the Latin American market in the 1950s by forming a joint venture with Industro Viejes in Santo Ignezeto to manufacture bicycle parts. The joint venture flourished in the 1960s, and Greenwich eventually bought out 100% ownership. The company earned steady profits from the Latin American subsidiary until a military junta overthrew the government in the late 1970s. The ruling generals expropriated all foreign-owned companies, including the Santo Ignezeto bicycle parts plant.

Today Santo Ignezeto is ruled by a democratic government that has been in power for 10 years. Industro Viejes has approached Greenwich about another joint venture. The government is offering an attractive incentive package to attract foreign investment.

You have been assigned to travel to Santo Ignezeto and begin planning and staffing.

Competency

This competency will allow you to demonstrate your understanding of deviance in the digital world and the changes to deviance that we see due to technological advances.

Instructions

You are working for a local department store in the Operations Department. Since you began working with this organization, you have noticed that your team members are more comfortable with technology. However, the available technology in the store has not been updated. It is also apparent to you that as technology has improved in our society, so has the types of deviant behaviors that occur, and you’re aware that deviant behaviors in both the physical world and in digital environments can impact business practices.

With the observations that you have made, you approach your boss who has also noticed an increase in deviant behaviors within society and has an overall concern about how the store can be impacted.

Because of his increasing concern about the impact of deviant behaviors on the store, and his knowledge of your familiarity with the subject, you are asked by your supervisor to create a video collage that will demonstrate your interpretation of deviance in the digital world and the impact it can have on the store you are working in. Your supervisor informs you that this video collage will be presented to your supervisor and colleagues in order to help you and the business determine the types of deviance that need to be addressed, and how to effectively manage it through daily operations. Your supervisor encourages you to use a variety of visual representations in order to captivate your audience and get your message across.

For this video collage, you are to reflect and address the following questions and information.

  • What is defined as deviant in the physical world?
  • What is defined as deviant in the digital or online world?
  • Compare and contrast deviance between the two environments.
  • Consider various forms of deviance in both the physical and virtual worlds, and explain how they impact society.
  • How would Conflict Theory define deviance?
  • How would Symbolic Interaction Theory define deviance?
  • How do the theories discussed impact the meaning or interpretation of deviance in a digital or online environment?
  • How do you envision that deviance in the virtual world, or deviance due to technological advances, can impact your store?
  • What are some ways to manage various forms of deviance in the day-to-day operations of your store?

respond to two students discussion posts

First student: Caring for a post operative patient is not an easy task. All members of the healthcare team must work together in order to make sure the patient recovers with out any complications. It is crucial that the nurse, LPN, medication aid, and nursing assistant communicate with each other so that all tasks can be accomplished. Each member of the team will have their own responsibilities based on their scope of practice. When it comes to delegating tasks, it’s important to know the difference between delegation and assignment. An assignment is something that a nursing assistant can do without supervision from the nurse. The NCSBN states, “Delegation is allowing a delegatee to perform a specific nursing activity, skill, or procedure that is beyond the delegatee’s traditional role and not routinely performed” (pg 6, 2021). The delegatee must be educated and trained on the appropriate skill before performing the task. It is important to remember that the nurse still holds responsibility over the task being delegated. An article titled, Five Rights of Nursing Delegation, states, “The registered nurse is always accountable for the overall outcome of delegated tasks based on each state’s nurse practice act provisions” (Barrow, 2021).This is why it’s important for the nurse to consider the 5 five rights of delegation to ensure they are delegating appropriately. The five rights include task, circumstance, person direction/communication, and supervision/evaluation. There are some tasks that can be delegated when caring for a post operative patient. First, assessing the ability to drink clear liquids should be a task of the nurse or delegated to the LPN. This task is within the scope of an LPN so it would be an appropriate delegation. Determining the amount eaten by the patient can be delegated to a UAP. The UAP must report back to the nurse after the task is completed and the nurse must make sure that it was done correctly. Documenting the patient’s tolerance to clear liquids and documenting the patient’s tolerance for activity should be done by the nurse. Any documentation needs to be performed by the registered nurse. Assessing the patient’s tolerance for sitting at the bedside and assessing the patient’s tolerance for ambulating should be done by the nurse or LPN. Lastly, assessing the patients pain level could be delegated to the UAP because pain assessment is part of taking vitals which is within a UAP’s scope. None of these tasks can be delegated to a medication aid because there aren’t any medications involved. An appropriate outcome for assessing a patient’s pain level would be that their pain has decreased since their initial assessment. The UAP would assess the patient’s pain, report back to the nurse, and the nurse would provide the appropriate intervention for pain. The nurse could then evaluate the patient’s response to the intervention.

Second student: Assess the patient’s ability to drink clear liquids.

  • Cannot Delegate
  • According to the in-class PowerPoint nurses cannot delegate assessments that identify needs or problems.
  • According to the article, “National Guidelines for Nursing Delegation states, “the license nurse cannot delegate nursing judgement or any activity that will involve nursing judgement or critical decision making”(National Council of State Board of Nursing, 2015, pg. 6).
  • Determine the amount eaten.
    • Can Delegate
    • This task can be delegated to a CNA or LPN if available. Either of these roles can watch the patient eat, and report back to the nurse. This allows the nurse to focus on giving medications, and completing assessments.
  • Document the patient’s tolerance of clear liquids.
    • Can Delegate
    • According to the Ohio Board of Nursing, LPNs can, “Document the patient’s response to the nursing plan of care or the medication or treatment”(Ohio Board of Nursing, 2019, pg.3). If the LPN was in a patient’s room giving them a PO medication they can document how the patient tolerated this intervention, and relay this information to the RN.
  • Assess the patient’s tolerance for sitting at the side of the bed.
    • Cannot Delegate
    • Nurses cannot delegate any assessments that identify needs or problems.
  • Assess the patient’s tolerance for ambulating.
    • Cannot Delegate
    • Nurses cannot delegate any assessments that identify patients needs or problems.
    • The nurse can ask for a CNA or LPN to help if assistance is needed. LPN can collaborate with the RN, but ultimately it is the RNs responsibility.
  • Document the patient’s tolerance for activity.
    • Can Delegate
    • As I stated in a previous point, The Ohio Boards of Nursing states, “LPNs  can collect and documents objective and subjective data and observations about the
      patient(Ohio Board of Nursing, 2019, pg.3).
  • Assess the patient’s pain level.
    • Cannot Delegate
    • The medication aide can give pain meds to the patient
    • A nurse needs to assess and identify any problems a patient may be having. A nurse could delegate to a LPN to give a PO pain medication.Depending on the state through my research LPNs are not allowed to give medications via IV push.
  • Provide education about activity levels.
    • Cannot Delegate
    • According to our class PowerPoint RNs, are not allowed to delegate health counseling, teaching, or referrals to other healthcare providers.

Assess the patient’s pain level:

  1. The patient will experience pain less than 3 out of a 1-10 scale during the day shift on 10-3-21.
  2. Patient uses pharmacological and nonpharmacological pain-relief strategies.
  3. Patient shows improved vital sign baseline like BP, pulse, RR thorough out shift.

I’m working on a management question and need a sample draft to help me study.

Competency

Apply conflict management and negotiation strategies to decision-making.

Scenario

Recently, Johnson Consulting Company reorganized many of its departments worldwide to improve efficiency for working with customers. The leadership decided to combine its Customer Service and New Business Development Departments to allow both groups to experience working with new and existing customers. This move created one department where employees will work together to develop new customers while supporting existing customers.

However, the move created conflict between the individuals involved with the reorganization in many South American locations, particularly in Brazil. For instance, the Customer Service Representatives were only handling existing customer issues before the reorganization, but the Business Development Specialists believe they should respond to new customer inquiries. Some of the Business Development Specialists prefer not to work closely with many Customer Service

Representatives as they have demonstrated rude behavior to coworkers from time to time.

As the newly appointed manager for both of these departments, you research Brazil’s natural and cultural dimensions. Then integrate what you have learned about the country’s culture in a conflict resolution strategy for the team.

Instructions

Develop a conflict resolution strategy plan that addresses the following:

  • What are two different types of conflict the Brazil groups are experiencing due to the reorganization? What bargaining technique would be most useful for addressing each of the different conflict issues? Why?
  • What elements of a negotiation should be considered when managing conflict in this situation?
  • What dimensions of Brazil’s culture should be considered by management to determine the best way to address the situation with the employees in Brazil? How would resolving conflict in the U.S. differ from Brazil?
  • Use examples to support the understanding of concepts in a well-defined conflict resolution strategy plan.
  • Provide attribution for credible references used in the development of content ideas following academic guidelines.
  • As always, please keep in mind who your audience is and use correct grammar and spelling.

Short Answer Writing Choices:

  • 1.) Ancient Greek children were taught morals and ethical lessons about heroes from reading stories like the Iliad and the Odyssey, and Ancient Roman children were taught the same lessons by reading the Aeneid. These stories taught readers about admirable qualities like courage, honor, virtue, bravery, and leadership. Qualities like “arete” are described in detail in these tales. In your opinion, what stories do children look to today for the same types of ethical teaching? Do we emphasize the same qualities today, or are there other skills besides bravery and honor that matter more? What do you think defines the term “hero” today?
  • 2.) In Unit 1, we learned about the Greek Philosopher Aristotle. He championed the ideal of ethics and virtue; namely, that a living a virtuous life meant living an ethical and honest one. Aristotle emphasized that virtue is practical, and that the purpose of ethics is to become good. Thus, in his book, Nicomachian Ethics, Aristotle presented the idea of ethical dilemmas: remember that Ethical Dilemmas are situations in which the best moral course of action is not always clear-cut. Aristotle advocated using the Golden Mean, which means finding the middle ground, and not choosing any extremes for our decisions (don’t fall into extremes of justification or temptation for your behavior). If you found yourself in a scenario like this, what would you do, and what do you think Aristotle would advise you to do? Would your actions align with Aristotle’s advice?
    • You have been struggling in your Economics class. The content does not come easily to you, so you have put in countless hours to understand and do the assignments. There is another student who breezes through these same assignments, getting high marks for the work he turns in. You know for a fact that he has used his older cousin (who already has a degree in Economics) to do some of the assignments for him. You don’t know how many assignments were turned in this way, but you are certain that he, in fact, did not do all the work. Your frustration increases over the last assignment that you worked overtime on, but did poorly. Of course, this other student scored well on the same assignment. You could drop the teacher a note about the implied cheating on the part of this other student. It might get the teacher to slow down a little, and help you in the long run, but you run the risk of getting caught being the author of the note. What do you do?

    • You have a major research paper due in a few days for your English class. If you don’t do well in this class, your financial aid will be compromised—you can not afford school otherwise — and you likely won’t be able to stay at the college. A friend tells you about a website that creates custom papers for a small fee. You are guaranteed an “A” on the essay if this works, and but you have no guarantee that you won’t be caught. If you are caught, you’ll fail the entire course. What would you do — cheat and take your chances, or play it safe and write it on your own?
  • 4.) In Unit 2, we learned a great deal about the Middle Ages, why it was considered “dark,” and how the Catholic Church rose to power and kept that power secure. Other than the power of the Church, what do you think is the most significant difference between the early Middle Ages (time of the beginning of Christianity) and the high Middle Ages (right before the beginning of the Black Plague)?
  • 5.) Machiavelli is one of the most controversial and enduringly popular philosophers of all time. His book, The Prince, remains a source of political intrigue even today. His words influence politicians, CEOS, business leaders, and bosses around the world. What do you make of his three most controversial claims:
    • Do you agree with Machiavelli that all people are inherently selfish and evil, and only care about themselves? Why or why not?
    • Is it better to rule through fear, rather than love? Explain your answer thoroughly.
    • Do you agree that in order to be a leader, you must be “sly like a fox and tough like a lion?” What does that description mean to you/how do you interpret Machiavelli’s words in today’s society?
  • 6.) Who do you believe is the greatest of the Renaissance artists we studied in this course, and why? Choose from Giotto, Da Vinci, Donatello, Michelangelo, or Raphael to make your case. Be specific about their art, and why you believe your chosen artist deserves this title. Go beyond just “I like the art” as your rationale.
  • 7.) If you had a time machine, would you go back to visit the Ancient World, the Middle Ages, or the Renaissance? Explain your choice. What would you do in that time period, who would you see, what would you want to experience?
  • 8.) Put yourself in the shoes of a newly literate person in the dawn of the Renaissance. You are coming out of the Middle Ages, and you are getting your first look at reading the Bible for yourself, rather than just listening to your local parish priest at Mass each week. You have obtained a copy of Martin Luther’s 95 Theses, freshly printed on the printing press….. Do you agree or disagree with Luther’s objections to the Catholic Church? Why?

1.) Read the questions below and choose TWO to answer. Your answers should be thorough, meaning at least a full paragraph or more for each essay — answers that are shorter or without analysis will not receive full credit.

2.) Remember that your answer should be written in your own words, as your own opinion.

3.) The post is due by the time and date listed on the course syllabus. Please see the syllabus for the late work policy.

4.) These questions are primarily opinion based, which means you need to explain your point of view thoroughly, respectfully, and on topic (ie, this is not the place to veer off topic or go into a rant). “Wrong” answers that won’t receive credit are answers that are rude, off topic, too short, or without academic analysis. If you want to reply to a classmate, feel free, as long as you are respectful in your reply. This should simulate the usual rules for any class discussion. I will monitor the board and weigh in as students post, and will intervene if the conversation is going in a direction not conducive to learning.

Discussion Post Questions:

1.) “From black death to corona virus: a brief history of quarantines”; “Iran’s coronavirus outbreak is bizarrely reminiscent of the black death”; “Learn from history: black death killed millions of people”; “Black death offers lessons for dealing with covid-19 outbreak.” This is just a glimpse at the headlines of some famous papers regarding the outbreak of the novel coronavirus disease of 2019 (COVID-19) highlighting the importance of this crisis as a global warning. On January 31, 2020, the WHO announced the outbreak of COVID-19 as a public health emergency worldwide. As it’s said, “history repeats itself,” so what do you think — what are the similarities between the Plague and Covid-19?

2.) Castiglione writes about the social expectations for men and women in the Renaissance. His list of what men and women are “supposed to know how to do” is long! Men should speak a foreign language, know how to dance and tell jokes, be well read, play an instrument, be able to interpret art, etc etc….. women should be kind, never speak poorly of others, be apolitical, appear respectful and well mannered…. etc etc –the list goes on an on! Are there similar “rules” for men and women today? If so, what are they? If not, why not?

3.) Why do you think many people in the Renaissance finally stood up to the Church, when people in the Middle Ages did not, or at least were so afraid to?

4.) Do you think that the Renaissance was really a rebirth of ancient art, literature, music, and theater from the ancient age? Or was it an era of something brand new?

5.) In light of what you read and learned about Leonardo da Vinci, do you think movies like The Da Vinci Code could be truthful? Could there really be mysteries and scandals hidden inside Da Vinci’s art? Or, do you think Hollywood is merely exaggerating the mysteries of Da Vinci’s life?
