This is meant to be a fun exercise related to retirement planning, so I hope you enjoy it. The chapters in this section of the text are all about saving for retirement, so I thought it might be fun to also think about where you’d like to live once you are ready to retire. Please follow the instructions below and post your answers for the entire class to see.
1. Do your own research regarding the best cities in which to retire. (Note: You cannot pick any city in the S.F. Bay Area.)
2. Tell me why you chose that city. There are many factors that you might consider important: weather, cost of living, access to medical care, access to the arts and entertainment, proximity to family, etc. Describe why you’d like to retire in your chosen city. Be specific about why you chose that city, and provide real data to back up your decision. For example, if cost of living is an important consideration (and it should be for most), then provide the data you used to compare the cost of living in your chosen retirement city to the bay area. Likewise, if weather is important to you, then provide us with average temperatures by month, rainfall totals, etc.
